El viernes 27 de mayo de 2016, en Pankrác (barrio de Praga, República checa), el anarquista Martin Ignačak, en cárcel preventiva acusado de terrorismo, se declaró en huelga de hambre. Lo hizo porque el 29 de abril de 2016 el Tribunal de la ciudad de Praga falló a favor de su liberación de la prisión preventiva y el abogado del Estado apeló esta decisión ante el Tribunal Supremo de Praga. El viernes 27 de mayo de 2016 el Tribunal Superior de Praga amplió la prisión preventiva. Por lo tanto, el anarquista ha decidido protestar poniéndose en huelga de hambre y ha dejado de tomar alimentos sólidos y líquidos. Este tipo de huelga de hambre amenaza la vida de un huelguista después de una semana.
Durante la investigación, que ya dura un año, de la preparación de un supuesto ataque terrorista el anarquista preso ha agotado todas las opciones legales para lograr un procedimiento objetivo de los respectivos órganos activos en el proceso penal. Ninguna de ellas se ha tenido en cuenta. Esto es por lo que ahora ha elegido esta forma radical de expresión: para llamar la atención sobre este caso policial manipulado. «Considero que el enfoque de l@s investigador@s y la policía es muy problemático; es una amenaza para la libertad de cada ser humano, una amenaza a la libertad de expresión, una amenaza para el activismo que trata de conducir a un mundo mejor. Y esto no se limita a l@s anarquistas».
Martin está siendo procesado desde abril de 2015 en el llamado caso Fénix en el que un total de 5 personas fueron acusadas de la preparación y la falta de notificación de un ataque terrorista en un tren. Martin es la única persona que ha estado en prisión preventiva durante todo este tiempo y su detención ha sido ahora ampliada después de la intervención del abogado del Estado. Como un motivo para la extensión de la prisión preventiva el abogado del Estado utilizó el testimonio de un agente de policía que se infiltró en el movimiento anarquista en 2014. A partir de su testimonio el fiscal del Estado extrajo la conclusión de que Martin podría intentar escapar a España. Otra razón, según él, fue que Martin «está conectado a la llamada Síť revolučních buněk (SRB) (Red de células revolucionarias) y, por lo tanto, también a organizaciones similares en el extranjero.» La policía habló de SRB cuando comenzó Fénix y proporcionó información a los medios. «Cualquier conexión entre los 5 ataques atribuidos a SRB y tod@s l@s detenid@s y acusad@s ha sido refutada. Los mismos investigadores la han descartado», dice Martin.
En estos momentos Martin es el segundo prisionero de más larga duración en la prisión preventiva de Pankrác. Durante 13 meses lleva viviendo allí en condiciones que afectan negativamente a su estado psicológico y físico. Por ejemplo, se le han negado alimentos libres de productos animales, lo que significa que prácticamente no tiene acceso a comida caliente. Amig@s que han acudido de visita han sido mencionados por su nombre en el auto de procesamiento. La policía del Departamento para la lucha contra el crimen organizado ha empezado a reunir información sobre la hermana de Martin, sólo porque ella trata de apoyar a su hermano de cualquier forma que puede.
Para Martin la libertad condicional significaría que, después de 13 largos meses, podría de nuevo ver a sus amig@s, la familia, la naturaleza, que no estaría expuesto a la privación emocional y sufrimiento físico.
Actualización a domingo 29 de mayo de 2016: la hermana de Martin, Pavla B. se ha unido a su hermano en la protesta y esta mañana ha iniciado una huelga de hambre ella misma también.

On Friday 27.5. 2016 in Pankrác remand prison anarchist Martin Ignačák accused of terrorism went on hunger strike. He did this because on 29.4. 2016 the City court in Prague ruled in favour of his release from remand and the state’s attorney appealed this decision to the High court in Prague. On friday 27.5. 2016 the High court in Prague extended the remand. Therefore the anarchist has decided to protest by going on hunger strike and has stopped taking in nutrition and liquids. This type of hunger strike threatens the life of the hunger striker after a week.
During the year long investigation of the preparation of a supposed terrorist attack the imprisoned anarchist has exhausted all legal options, to achieve objective procedure of the respective organs active in the criminal proceedings. None of them were taken into account. This is why he now chose this radical form of expression, to draw attention to this manipulated police case. ” I consider the approach of the investigators and the police to be very problematic, it is a threat to the freedom of
every human being, a threat to freedom of speech, a threat to activism that tries to lead to a better world , and this doesn’t just involve anarchists.”
Martin is being prosecuted in the so called Fénix case from April 2015, in which altogether 5 people were accused of the preparation and the failure to notify of a terrorist attack on a train. Martin is the only one who has been in remand prison this whole time and his detention has now been extended after the intervention of the state’s attorney. As a reason for the extension of remand the state’s attorney used the testimony of a police agent who infiltrated the anarchist movement in 2014. From his testimony the state’s attorney drew the conclusion that Martin might attempt to escape to Spain.
Another reason, according to him, was that Martin ” is connected to the so called Síť revolučních buněk/ The Network of Revolutionary Cells (SRB) and therefore also to similar organizations abroad.”
The police spoke about SRB when they began Fénix and provided information to the media. ” Any connections between the 5 attacks ascribed to SRB and all the detained and accused have been refuted. The investigators themselves have ruled it out” says Martin.
At the moment Martin is the second longest detained prisoner in the Pankrác remand prison. For 13 months he lives there under conditions, that negatively affect his psychological and physical state. For example he has been refused food free of animal products, which means he practically doesn’t have access to hot food. Friends, who have come to visit him have been mentioned by name in the indictment. Police from the Department for combating organized crime have started to collect information on Martin’s sister, only because she tries to support her brother in whichever way she can.
For Martin parole would mean that after 13 long months he would again see his friends, family, nature, that he wouldn’t be exposed to emotional deprivation and physical hardship.
Update Sunday, May 29th: Martin’s sister Pavla B. joined her brother in the protest and this morning she has started hunger strike herself as well.
